This is the reason your hair shines, bounces and stays strong during pregnancy. A dip in estrogen levels makes your hair to fall again. However, you should not worry too much about postpartum hair loss. Since the estrogen levels were high during pregnancy it freezes the resting process of your hair, which simply means that the cycle of hair growth comes to a halt. So, the hair that was to fall and make way for new hair stays put on your scalp. Now, once you birth your baby and the estrogen levels dip the resting hair starts to fall. Here are few other things that happen to your body that no one told you before.

While it isn t something that you should worry about, but if you feel that you are losing excess hair and it is making your hair look limp, try this home remedy use methi or fenugreek seeds to prevent excessive hair fall. Here are some other benefits of methi that you should know.

How to use it:

In a small bowl take some hair oil, preferably coconut oil and soak some methi seeds, heat this oil for few minutes and then massage your scalp with it while it is still warm. Regular application can help you regulate hair growth and prevent hair fall.

Does it work:

While this is a tried and tested method to counter hair fall postpartum, but there is also some scientific explanation to why methi seeds act as an anti-hair fall agent. Postpartum hair fall is a result of a dip in estrogen levels. However, there are natural components in that can replicate the actions of estrogen and one of them is methi, a regular in most Indian kitchens. Phytoestrogens that mimic estrogen properties are found in many plant sources like fenugreek binds to estrogen receptors in the brain to do its job. So using hair oil that has fenugreek extracts can help to improve hair growth and prevent hair fall. Studies also suggest that fenugreek extracts help in around 10 percent growth and arrests hair fall. However, to establish a particular role of fenugreek seeds and hair loss more scientific data will be needed.

But if postpartum hair loss bothers you, giving methi seeds a try is worth it.
