Ultrasonography

A diagnostic imaging technique in which high-energy sound waves (ultrasound) are used for imaging soft tissues and internal organs to detect diseases or lesions. The ultrasound is reflected from internal tissues or organs as echoes whose patterns are shown on the screen of the ultrasound machine as an image (sonogram).
