Organ transplant

Organ transplant refers to the transplant of an organ from one person to another or from one part of a patient s body to another, to replace the recipient s damaged or absent organ. They are basically of two types organs created from a patient s own cells (autografts) or organs from a different person living or dead (allografts). Organ transplantation is particularly necessary in the case of organs like the liver or lungs where there aren t any artificial organs which can perform all their functions. Thousands die every year in India since transplantation of organs like heart, liver and pancreas are difficult from live donors. The only possible solution is large scale organ harvesting from cadaver donors.
