In the first instance, GNRC Universal Health Mission and GNRC Group of Hospitals Founder, Dr. Nomal Chandra Borah, has received two prestigious national awards, including the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Indian Academy of Neurology (IAN) and Lifetime Achievement Award 2025 by Association of Nurse Executive (India); other awards such as the Padma Bhushan (2013) were also in the pipeline to be awarded to him.
Indian Academy of Neurology is the highest national organization of neurologists that deals with development of neurological science, research, education and clinical standards in India. The IAN Lifetime Achievement Award is a trophy that is used to honour neurologists who have made outstanding contributions to the development and quality of neurology in the nation.
IAN hailed the awe-inspiring life story of grit, determination and service that Dr. Borah had undergone, how he brought himself with his humble origins to be one of the most respected neurologists in India. The quote shows his honesty, self confidence, and determination to build the first full fledged neuroscience centre in Northeast India, to reach people with neurological services who were never served by them before and initiate DNB Neurology education there.
IAN also praised his long research, numerous publications, and his great success as a mentor and social entrepreneur - his career being monumental to the State and the Nation, and an example that the younger generation should follow.
The Association of Nurse Executive (India) is the most important professional association in the country, which is an organization representing the senior leaders, educators, and administrators in nursing. ANEI strives to become more powerful in nursing governance, enhancing professional excellence, and influencing policies that empower the nursing in India.
ANEI Lifetime Achievement Award is one of the greatest awards in the Indian nursing leadership that are awarded to those whose vision and services have had profound impact on nursing practice and healthcare delivery in the country.
ANEI in its reference described Dr. Borah as a visionary neurologist and a committed social reformer and pioneer in his initiatives such as GNRC Medireach, Swasthyamitra, and the Universal Health Mission have brou
