Prediabetes is an unaware metabolic disturbance that takes place before the onset of type 2 diabetes. Early warning signs can be understood in order to prevent the disease.

Looking at the world today I am able to wonder how far we have come. The time was when mankind was fighting to survive and to eat the simplest food, when the major danger was starvation and lack. However, now everything has the opposite. The amount of food, calories, and choices has never been more than it is now. And yet, I notice the numbers of people who are victims of lifestyle diseases that I had never imagined before diabetes, high blood pressure, heart attacks, cancer, lung problems. These conditions present themselves at my clinic every day, and it is just one thing that comes into my mind, it is not the insufficiency of food that causes these diseases; it is the abundance. Unhealthy lifestyles and improper dieting is the new epidemic and one of the most potent metabolic disruptions is diabetes that is in the middle of the whole gamut. It dictates and activates the occurrence of majority of lifestyle disorders that we experience today quietly.

I usually put my patients through a simple narration of what occurs within the body to make them comprehend. When we feed on food, it is digested and sugar is removed out of it. This sugar gets into the blood via the intestines. Once this sugar increases the pancreas detects it and secretions of insulin occur. I prefer to describe insulin as the road police of glucose in absence of insulin, sugar has no direction. Insulin directs sugar into the muscle to produce energy, some of it gets stored in the liver and the rest gets deposited in fat. Blood sugar is normal provided that this machinery operates in a smooth manner. And then the machine is gradually shaken by the modernity of life. Excessive food consumption and richness in calories result in fat deposition and at first, the body stores it in fatty body tissues. However, with time, the fat starts leaking in such areas where it does not belong such as the muscles, liver and pancreas. This non-adipose tissue fat undermines the effect of insulin resulting in a condition known as insulin resistance. In this case, there is the presence of insulin whose signals are disregarded. Blood sugar starts rising.

The body attempts to make up by the production of an increased insulin, and sugar becomes normal over a period. But somewhere inside, it has already started getting hurt. This is the first stage of diabetes with numerous warning signs, and the majority of individuals disregard them. The patients frequently complain that they are feeling sleepy after eating or that they are hungry they soon. They observe the size of their waist swelling, feel more thirsty, get up at night to go to the bathroom or notice dark spots under the neck or armpits. Others complain of burning feet or being mentally confused after eating. They are not indicators they are the murmurs of prediabetes, the phase when it is not too late to turn the ship around.

Major Early Warning Signs of Pre-Diabetes people overlook

  • Abnormal drowsiness following meals.
  • Normal appetite and yet eats a good deal.

What You Need to Do When You Notice These Symptoms

When I recognize a person in this phase, I always give definite advice. Begin exercising instantly particularly walking and strength training. Limit the number of calories consumed and shun refined, processed, and fried foods. You should lose at least 10 percent of your present body weight since this will increase your insulin sensitivity greatly. Control your stress level since mental stress has direct effect on blood sugar.

Panchakarma and herbal medicines can assist in the correction of the metabolism and natural regulation of sugar, where necessary. When these early signs are taken into consideration and action is taken in time, it is possible to prevent diabetes before it begins to act as a life time burden.
