Apart from stretching your arms, shoulders and neck, the asana will improve your digestion, improve your posture and strengthen your thighs and knees. Additionally, the asana is therapeutic for asthma,anxiety, headache and insomnia. The asana also strengthens the lower limbs and boosts the circulation in the pelvic area.
Sit comfortably in vajrasana. Sitting in vajrasana massages the kanda spot about 12 inches above the anus that is the point of convergence for over 72,000 nerves.
As you breathe in, spread out both your knees. However, ensure that you keep your feet together.
As you exhale, fold your right hand above the right shoulder and place your right palm below your left shoulder. Your left and right hand will be criss-cross to one another.
Now as you inhale again fold your left hand and place your left palm below your right shoulder.
Exhale again and slowly release your left hand and then your right hand.
Tips:
Make sure that you keep your back and spine erect and gaze in front to stay longer in this pose.
When you release, first release the upper hand and then the other hand.
This asana may be tough for some with lesser flexibility in their lower body, and therefore it is essential that you do it gradually.
