Parivrtta anjaneyasana or revolved lunge pose is an excellent pose to get rid of your love handles and lose weight from your arms, hips and thighs. It stimulates your abdominal organs and improves digestion. It is also a great asana to relieve sciatica pain. Holding the pose will help you build stamina and endurance and improve your concentration and balance. Steps to perform:

  • Begin with adho mukho svanasana or downward facing dog position.
  • As you exhale, place your left foot forward in between your hands and straighten your right leg behind.
  • Now as you inhale, raise your right hand up towards the ceiling. Twist to the right side and look towards your right hand. Make sure that your weight is on your front leg and hand. You will feel a stretch on your back and hips.
  • Continue breathing deeply and hold this position for as long as you can.
  • To release, slowly bring your right hand down and get back to downward facing dog position.
  • Repeat this pose on the other side.

Word of caution:

  • Do not perform this pose if you have a back or a knee injury.
  • Also, avoid the pose if you suffer from low or high blood pressure.
  • Do not try getting into the pose if you are pregnant or are menstruating.
