There could be several reasons behind you feeling hungry, and all of them may not be about your body needing food. Sometimes, you may think that you are craving food, when in fact you just need some water. Moments of stress too may cause you to crave food, and lead to overeating.
Some of the ways you can beat these pangs are by eating fruits like oranges and watermelon which are low in calories and high in fibre. Eating a well balanced breakfast, lunch and dinner will ensure that you don't feel these pangs, but in case you do (such as in times of stress), try and drink a cup of black coffee. It is extremely low in calories (a cup contains just 4.7 calories) and can help suppress your appetite. Make sure you don't drink this black coffee more than once or twice a day, as that can cause other complications.
You could also drink green tea that will not only help suppress hunger, but will give your body a range of other health benefits too.
Factors like boredom too could make you feel hungry, which is why it is important that you keep yourself occupied. You can instead grab a good book, listen to your favourite music, meditate, etc. to offset this boredom and keep yourself from gorging.
