Rice is usually not supposed to be a part of our daily meals when on a weight loss regime because of its starch resistant content. However, for the much needed intake of carbohydrates in your diet, brown rice is a great alternative. It is lighter on the stomach and helps you feel fuller, thereby keeping your appetite in check. It is also responsible for regulating bowl movements, resulting in healthy digestion. Brown rice helps accelerate metabolism and is beneficial in burning fat. The manganese present in brown rice provides for 80% of our body's manganese requirements. Brown rice is further beneficial to balance cholesterol levels due to the naturally occurring oils in it. Brown rice has its bran and germ intact, unlike white rice and is hence healthier. The calorie content in boiled brown rice is 275 calories per bowl, as compared to 339 calories in white rice.
