If you have been a regular at the gym for the last few months, chances are that you had managed to find a gym buddy who helps you with weight training. A common scene at any gym is a man grunting with pain during weight lifting while his gym buddy enthusiastically encourages him to go for at least two more counts. By the end of their workout session, you will find them discussing their workout schedule in detail before heading out.
There's no doubt that having a gym buddy can help you stay motivated and take your workout schedule to the next level. For some people, their personal trainer ends up becoming their gym partner and it is because of this support system that makes many people a regular at their gym. Here are tricks for finding the right gym partner. There is no friendship like the one you share with your gym buddy. After a long day at work or maybe even right after waking up, the first person you will contact is your gym buddy and what time they plan on hitting the gym.
He is the one who you have the most adrenaline-induced conversations with and no one understands your fitness struggles and goals quite as well as your gym buddy. However, behind all this 'bromance' or even sisterhood in the gym, you might end up comparing yourself to them. Every time they hit a new milestone and were able to lift heavier weights than you, you will feel like you're lagging behind and might even feel discouraged when you see that they're getting better results from sweating it out in the gym.
Whenever you find that you are comparing yourself to your gym buddy and getting frustrated with how much more better they seem to be doing, immediately stop yourself. Instead, reflect on what you might be doing wrong and how to fix it. For instance, are you training too hard without sufficient rest? Or maybe you started doing a few new exercises the wrong way. By re-evaluating your own fitness goals and workout schedule instead of comparing yourself to someone else, you will find it far more easier to accomplish your fitness goals.
