Weight Loss Tip #11 - Do some weight trainingWhile doing cardio will help you burn calories and increase your metabolism, weight training will help you build lean muscle ensuring that you keep on burning calories long after you've worked out.

'When you start training regularly with weights, your muscles develop, become denser, and burn more calories all day and night. Though cardio is a great way to assist in fat loss, it burns fat only while you're performing the exercise, not around the clock. Lifting weights and adding lean muscle, on the other hand, turns your body into a full-time calorie-burning machine. If you were to add just 5 pounds of muscle to your frame, you could burn an additional 250 to 300 calories per day that's a whole meal for some people!', Kris Gethin, fitness icon and Hrithik Roshan's trainer writes in his book The Bodybuilding.com Guide To Your Best Body.

You can do weight training exercises either with free weights or using machines. The advantage of using machines over free weights is that there are lesser chances of injury. That said, weight training may make your muscles feel sore which is why you should never forget doing some stretching exercises after working out. Also, it is important to understand that this feeling of soreness is caused due to the formation of new muscles and you should actually be happy about it.
