It is a common practice to eat saunf or fennel seeds post meals. They are great digestives and help cleanse your palate too after a heavy meal. Besides being a good digestive, fennel seeds have anti-bacterial properties that keep bad breath away. Its carminative properties keep flatulence at bay and also relieve menstrual pain. It beats water retention, keeps you away from anaemia and is good for weight loss too. If you are wondering how to use these seeds in your daily diet other than as a digestive, here are some quick tips:

Sherbet: Soak 1 cup fennel seeds, 1 cup sugar in 7-8 glasses of water. Leave this overnight so the water absorbs the flavour. This sherbet is just perfect for the summers as fennel seeds have cooling properties too. Strain the water before consuming. You can add more water in case the flavour is too strong. You can skip the sugar and add honey when you consume the drink for a healthier version.
