It's Vishu on the 14th of April 2016. When you hear festivals, the first thing that comes to your mind is good food. And who can resist a nice authentic South Indian thali, right? And french beans poriyal is one of the vegetables that you must have with sambhar/rasam rice and avial. It's not oily and has fresh flavours of coconut and french beans. Check out this french beans poriyal recipe by Chef Preetha Srinivasan here and share it with all the foodies out there.
Cook the french beans with turmeric, salt and a little water on a medium flame. Don't discard the water (if any) and keep it aside
In a kadhai/pan, heat some oil. Add mustard seeds and let it crackle
Add urad dal, curry leaves, Hing, chillies and saut till the dal changes colour
Now, add french beans and dhania powder and cook on a medium flame for few minutes. You can use the vegetable stock here while cooking. Cook till the vegetables are almost dry
Add coconut and mix it well. Serve as an accompaniment with rice and rasam/ sambhar
Share this recipe with all your South Indian friends and foodies and make sure you try this recipe at home. Have a happy New Year everyone!
