Try yoga to overcome your fear of public speaking and become confident

These yoga exercises are simple and extremely helpful in overcoming fear. You must try them out.

You know you can make the perfect PowerPoint presentation with powerful words to illustrate and the most beautiful images. But when you are out in the world, it is also you in focus and not just your presentation. If you lack the confidence to speak in public and get public jitters yoga can be extremely helpful. So before you pitch any idea to your boss or go to the stage or go for an interview, make sure you try these exercises recommended by Deepak Sharma yoga and meditation teacher, Art of Living.

Luxury breathing

The technique will make you calm and give you the strength to face any situation. It will also beat nervousness and help you be at ease with the people you are interacting.

Steps to perform

  • Stand straight and as you inhale, stretch your arms out towards the ceiling. Open your fingers as wide as you can.
  • Then stick your tongue out as you open your mouth wide keeping your chin down. Feel your body weight shift towards the ball of your foot.
  • As your arms circle behind you, exhale and come back to the starting position. Repeat this two to three times before you go ahead on the stage.

The forceful breath

This process can be an instant antidote to fear and anxiety. It will help release any tension and calm you down. Also, perform this simple yoga mudra to overcome fear.

Steps to perform:

  • Stand comfortably and take a deep breath.
  • Breathe out forcefully with a sneezing hmmm sound. Repeat this for 2 to 3 times.

When you are too nervous while presenting just, cover your mouth with your hands (like you would do while coughing) and do the forceful breathing. You will feel much more confident instantly. This powerful morning ritual can also help beat anxiety and overcome fear.
