Viparita virabhadrasana or reverse warrior pose is a great yoga asana to strengthen and tone your legs. This posture also increases flexibility of the back and spine. It stretches the side of the torso and arms and builds lower body strength. This asana increases blood flow throughout the body that reduces fatigue and keeps the mind calm. Practising this asana regularly will help build stamina and relieve lower back pain.
Steps to do the asana
Begin in a standing position keeping your feet shoulder-width apart.
Now bring your right foot forward and place it in such a way that that your right foot is perpendicular to your left foot.
Now bend your right knee until you experience a comfortable stretch. Your right knee should fall exactly above your right ankle with your right thigh parallel to the ground.
Now lift your right arm upwards over the head with your palm facing the ceiling. While doing this, the left hand should be sliding down the back of the left leg.
Stay in this pose for 20-30 seconds. Exhale and return to a standing position.
Repeat the procedure with the other limb.
Do this asana 5-6 times daily. If you are trying to lose weight, you can do 15 rounds of this posture.
