It is a great upper body exercise that will not only target your shoulders, biceps and triceps but will also tone your abdominals, obliques and lower back. Steps to perform the inverted hip extension with push-up

  • Get into the push-up position with your legs extended and knees down on the floor.
  • As you lower your chest to the floor, extend your left leg diagonally toward the ceiling while you bend your elbows by your sides.
  • Push back up and then press down again lowering your chest on the floor and lifting your hips in a three-legged dog position.
  • Complete eight to ten repetitions of this push-up variation and then switch to the other side.

Tips

  • Be sure to keep your hips your legs straight when you perform this exercise.
  • Make sure that all your weight is on your hand while you lift your body.

Word of caution

  • Avoid this exercise if you have any wrist or hip injury.
  • Also, do not perform this push-up if you are menstruating or are pregnant.
