Love fish? We bring you a steamy, healthy and delicious fish curry recipe from nutritionist Priya Kathpal that you will love. This fish curry tastes divine in spicy gravy. This recipe uses curry leaves making the dish rich in iron and folate. Curry leaves are known to be carminative in nature and thus, is highly effective against indigestion. Once ingested, it helps in the digestion process along with aiding in excretion. Enjoy this savoury fish curry with brown rice for a nutritionally complete and flavourful meal. You can also team it with white rice or roti, anything of your choice. You may also want to try this herb and garlic fish.

Ingredients:

  • 400g cat fish or any other small fish
  • 5 garlic cloves (chopped)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic paste
  • teaspoon black pepper paste
  • 2 cups fresh curry leaves
  • 1 potato (boiled and mashed)
  • 2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 3 tablespoons mustard oil for frying
  • 2 green chillies or dry red chillies
  • Salt to taste
  • Water

Preparation:

  • Marinate the fish in 1 teaspoon turmeric powder and salt and shallow fry the marinated fish. Remove them from the flame and keep them aside.
  • Now wash and clean the curries leaves and add a little water to make a smooth paste.
  • Now add oil to a pan and add chillies and chopped garlic followed by black pepper and ginger paste.
  • Fry the ingredients slightly and then add curry leaves paste and one teaspoon turmeric powder. Then add some water and bring the mixture to boil.
  • Then add the mashed potato and mix well to a smooth paste. Then add the fish and half cup of water and then cover the pan.
  • Uncover the pan and cook on low flame for 10 minutes till the gravy becomes thick.
  • Serve it with plain rice or roti and eat it for your lunch or dinner.
