Let us get some dope on it from Pune-based dermatologist Dr Rajiv Kothari.
What is coolsculpting?
Coolsculpting is a technology that is fairly brand new. It has applicators that are applied non-surgically on you so you get about 25 percent or so fat cell loss over 3-6 months. It works by suctioning onto your skin and freezing it getting to 11 degree Celsius. By the freezing technology, it goes right to the depth where all the fat is stored and causes those fat cells to undergo apoptosis or regular cell death. So they die off and melt away. However, the healthy cells remain unaffected as the procedure only freezes fat cells. Also, find out from Dr. Kiran Lohia if the slimming machines work.
How is coolsculpting done?
The coolculpting is basically a machine that gives you a hickey. And the hickey that it is giving you has a freezing potential, so the fat cells dissolve. The area is first sanitized, and then a gel is applied to protect the skin from frostbite. The sessions can range from 30 to 45 minutes each depending on the area. After the treatment, the area is massaged to get the skin back to its normal temperature. Often two sessions are needed to get the desired results.
Does the treatment cause any pain?
In the first ten minutes it may feel super cold along with a burning sensation and then the area goes numb. You may also experience some soreness after the session. So would you try coolsculpting? Here are 5 ways rapid weight loss can be dangerous for you.
