What is TRX workout?
TRX or Total Body Resistance Exercise is a suspension trainer that uses gravity and your bodyweight to help you perform a number of exercises. It is like a suspension strap that you can hang anywhere and use your bodyweight to perform a number of exercises. It works like a pendulum where the strap keeps swinging and you balance yourself on it. The workout majorly focuses on the central region of your body, the core. The movements in this workout also help build functional strength.
How is it different from other forms of gym workouts?
TRX is an advanced workout. In other forms of gym training, external weights like dumbbells and barbells are used. In TRX, you need to use your bodyweight to carry out the movements. If you want to perform the workout, you should be familiar with the basic movements of weight training. If you already have some natural strength developed then you will be able to perform the workout better.
One great benefit of TRX is that it is a portable gadget, which is very light in weight so you can work out anywhere you want.

How effective is it for weight loss?
As mentioned earlier, the training focuses on your entire body. The movements in the workout engage multiple muscles of your body at once. When many muscles in your body are working out together, your metabolic rate goes up, and you end up burning more fat during and after the workout. What type of exercises are included in TRX?
A total body workout, where you can tone your arms, shoulders, core, thighs and back muscles. To name a few - squats, TRX chest press, TRX row for upper back muscles and TRX body twist for oblique muscles are commonly performed. Likewise, there are a number of other exercises that you can perform to train different muscles of your body.
Is it recommended for everybody?
TRX workout is recommended for those who are fit or involved in sports. If you have any medical issues, an injury or lower back or knee problem, you should perform the dynamic movements with ample care. Try and avoid the jumping movements. These movements put pressure on your knees and lower back. You can stick to the basic training of TRX, which requires you to stand at one place.
How many times a week should one perform TRX?
TRX should be carried out minimum three times a week for 30 minutes. If you are a beginner, you can practise it for 20 minutes and as you progress further, add variations and extend it to 60 minutes.
