Bhadrasana or the auspicious pose is an excellent asana for beginners. It is a great pose to strengthen and tone the thighs, hips and buttocks. The posture also develops strength in the back by ensuring that it is upright. It improves digestion and helps treat digestive problems such as constipation and acidity. Practicing this asana can calm your mind and relieve anxiety.

  • Sit straight on a yoga mat and stretch your legs out in front of you.
  • Now fold both your legs and bring them close to each other. While you do this, the soles of your feet must touch each other.
  • Hold the toes of your feet with your hands and pull your legs towards the perineum. Your legs should rest on the ground touching the floor. Make sure that your spine is erect.
  • Hold this posture for as long as you can and make sure that your breath is slow and rhythmic.

Word of caution:

Avoid this asana if you have suffered a knee injury.
