Everything from your last-minute assignments, chores and happy hour can derail your evening workout plans. Working out in the morning can be the only option if you still want to break some sweat. But if waking up in the morning seems like a Herculean task, these tips will help you become a morning exerciser.
Plan in advance
Plan your workout in advance and put it on a calendar just like how you would do before a doctor s appointment. Since you have it in writing on your calendar, you can start to think it like a part of your day. If you do not plan your workout or sign up early for a yoga class, you are way less likely to get up early in the morning and exercise.
Ready your workout outfit the night before
A small effort like laying your outfit out the night before can make a lot of difference. Not only will it remind you to show up at the gym at 6 a.m. but will also give you a few more minutes of sleep in the morning. Here are 5 scientific reasons why morning workout is the best.
Get up physically to turn off the alarm
When you set an alarm, make sure that you keep it away so that you get up to switch it off. However, keep the alarm close enough so that you at least hear the sound.
Take gradual steps
And if you have never been a morning exerciser, do not just jump into it. Make gradual changes in your routine. If you typically get up at 8 a.m, move that up by 15 minutes, and then 30 minutes until you are able to wake up at your desired time. Also, do not suddenly get crazy with the workouts. Start with a 15-minute workout and then slowly increase the time. Here is an early morning stretching exercise to keep you energetic through the day.
Use social media
All those fitness posts on Instagram can be an excellent way to stay accountable. Make it a habit to post your daily fitness goals and achievements on Instagram. When you know that the world is watching and appreciating you for the same you will be more consistent with it.
