5 tips to eat clean and lose weight

Eating clean is not a daunting task. Follow these easy tips to spring clean your diet and lose weight quickly.

If you are on a weight loss diet, your dietician must have recommended you to eat clean. But clean eating is much more than just restricting your calorie intake. It is about getting back to your basics and eating only healthy. Dietician Neha Chandna tells you how you can do it. Instead of putting your hands on a bag of chips or a packet of cookies when you are hungry eating some fresh veggies and fruits can fill you up in a healthy way. Eating a banana can not only load you up with fibre but also boost your intake of vitaminB6. You can also prepare a fresh vegetable salad and have it for your snack time.

Skip the added sugars

When you are on a clean-eating plan, stick to natural sugars from fruits and healthy alternatives to table sugar. Always read food labels and do not purchase anything that contains added sugars. Avoid eating baked products and packaged fruit juices as they contain a lot of added sugar. Sometimes the yogurt and the cereals you eat also contain added sugars.

Avoid processed food

Cutting down on processed and refined foods are one of the best ways to ensure consistent weight loss. They lack fibre, vitamins and minerals and fill you up with extra calories at the same time. Plus they are high in sodium and fat. So, it is always a superb idea to spend some extra time on making home-cooked meals. Follow these 13 simple cooking hacks to make your meals healthier.

Cut back on alcohol

Keep your alcohol intake to a minimum and opt for an all-natural mocktail whenever you go for a party. Alcohol contains tons of sugar and is full of empty calories. They can also mess with your energy levels and undo all the hard work you are putting in with healthy food choices for weight loss.

Eat more whole grains

Whole grains are the powerhouse of dietary fibre, vitamins, minerals and phytonutrients and have many health benefits. The presence of fibre and bran in these grains slows down the breakdown of starch into glucose thereby keeping you full for a long time and preventing hunger pangs.
