7 tips to eat organic on a budget

Organic food is pure, safe, and more nutritious and environment-friendly but purchasing organic food usually translates into a hefty grocery bill. While, you may decide not to visit the organic section the next time you go grocery shopping, we give you a handful of tips to buy organic food when you are on a budget. Consider skipping vegetables and fruits like tomatoes, carrots peppers, fenugreek leaves and strawberries that you can grow at home. All you need is some organic soil; organic seeds of a plant and a planter and you are set to enjoy your garden fresh organic produce.

Many eateries are going organic. Yes, hitting a restaurant which serves organic food is convenient, but it can cost you heavily. So, make time to cook your meals at home using natural ingredients. When you cook at home, you will be able to make adjustments in the proportions of the ingredients according to your taste.

3. Look for discounts

Whenever you get discount options in whole wheat and legumes, buy them in bulk as they will cost you much cheaper. Beans and whole grains are packed with fibre, protein and other nutrients that can up your nutrient intake. Plus, they have a long shelf life and will remain edible for a long time, so don t be afraid to stock your pantry with them.

4. Skip the not-so-necessary items

You may want to substitute your refined snacks and cookies with healthier ones but think twice before you do so. Most of these organic treats are expensive, so it is best you learn to bake your healthy version of snacks, cookies and cakes at home. When you crave for something sweet, eat a piece of fruit or a handful of nuts to satiate your craving for salt.
