One of the biggest challenges that you face while trying to stick to a weight loss diet is hunger. In the process of consuming fewer calories you often end up starving and consuming a lot of calorie-dense foods at the end of the day. Here are tips from nutritionist Anvesha Sharma to help you curb your appetite and successfully reach your weight loss goals.

Eat a lot of protein: Aim to include protein in your meals. Not only will it keep you feel for longer but the amino acids it is made up of will help regulate your appetite. So include a lot of beans, dairy, lentils, fish, eggs and meat in your diet.

Consume healthy fats: When it comes to healthy eating the first thing we do is remove all fat rich foods from our diet plan. But fat keeps a check on your appetite by increasing the feeling of fullness. Fat is a major source of energy and is crucial for some major body functions like absorption of certain vitamins and minerals and building of cell membranes. So instead of reaching for a non-fat item, include healthy fats such as almonds, avocado, fish and olive oil in your diet. These fat-rich foods will help you lose weight and stay healthy.

Include a lot of fibre : Fibre gives you a feeling of satiety and moves at a slow pace in your gut. They soak up water in your stomach and expand to give you a sense of fullness. Food with fibre like your greens takes up a lot of time and effort to chew that tricks your brain that you ve had enough. Make maximum use of fruits and vegetables in your diet as they have bare minimum calories. Opt for a salad or fruit to curb your snacking habits.

Chew gum when hungry: Pop a chewing gum the next time you need to tame your growling stomach. Popping gum mirrors the same action as of eating a food item like salivating, touch of a flavour and chewing that helps you suppress your hunger. It does not help you to lose weight but helps you to consume a lot fewer calories. Make sure you pick out on a sugar-free variant. Here are ways you can beat sugar cravings.
