According to Abhishek, if you are a beginner, then warm-ups are a must as it not only makes your body ready for activity by improving your metabolism but also helps you to get perfect at it in a short time. Also, it lowers the risk of injury or muscle strain, which is quite common when your stress your body. Here are a few warm up tips for Surya Namaskar that you must do without fail.
Just like warm-ups, you have to do cool down or 10 minutes or 20 minutes, after you are done with the reps of Surya Namaskar (whether 10, 20 or whatever is the number). You should never head straight for a shower without a cool down. You should give your body enough time to adjust to the environment and get the racing heart rate back to normal. You do not have to go overboard but trying simple things like lying on the back and doing relaxation postures with yoga asanas like pawanmuktasana can also help. You can even sit straight and meditate for 15 minutes before you head to take a shower. If not meditation, then relaxation techniques like Pranayama also help you to cool down.
