Unfortunately, we live in a society that is highly obsessed with physical appearance and to be more precise, the weight of an individual. While it is considered highly offensive to call an overweight person fat or pass comments on their weight, sadly, calling thin people anorexic or constantly commenting on their body isn t. If you re thin, chances are you have been told these eight things countless times. If you don t want to be an insensitive and highly annoying person, avoid saying these phrases to the skinny women in your life. These are the 11 struggles skinny girls face.
1. You don t need to go to the gym
Believe it or not, but not everyone who goes to the gym wants to lose weight. In fact, those struggling to gain weight also benefit from weight lifting and cardio exercises as it helps in putting on muscle weight. By saying this phrase, you only come across as ignorant and condescending. Other than just trying to control your weight, people who are not overweight work out for increasing their stamina and giving their mental health a boost as well. Here's why you need to exercise even if you are thin.
2. Guys prefer curvy women
This is one of the worst things you can say to a thin woman. Not only will you hurt her feelings, but you will also come across as a highly insecure and bitter person. Don t dump your insecurities on your thin friend or acquaintance just because you re struggling to lose weight!
3. Do you really eat?
This might seem shocking to those who aren t naturally skinny, but yes, thin people also have a healthy appetite and enjoy consuming food. Read up on metabolism and genetics before asking this question. In fact, this what researchers have found thin people eat and why you should consider following their diet.
4. You don t have any reason to be insecure
It s unfair to tell a woman that she s not allowed to have her own set of insecurities about her appearance or feel self conscious just because she isn t overweight. Even skinny women go through phases where they feel they might not be attractive enough because of the constant comments on their appearance.
5. You have no boobs
Another statement made for the pure intention of attacking her insecurities and making a woman feel bad about her appearance. Don t be that kind of person.
6. You would look much better if you put on some weight
Just like overweight women, even thin women have a tough time finding people who accept them just the way they are. Being told that you re too skinny and need some flesh on your bones by every Tom, Dick and Harry is a routine thing for thin women. Avoid repeating this phrase if you want to be her friend.
7. You could take some of my fat
While this is said in jest and has no malicious intent, it can still be very annoying because it just isn t possible. And even if it was, there would be no takers! However, if you're struggling to gain weight, you could try out this diet plan.
8. Are you a size zero?
You don t see thin women going around asking others what size clothes they wear or if they re a size 100. Be kind and avoid asking her about what size clothes she wears unless you re a tailor or fashion designer.
