Start up company ActvContent is introducing a family wearable, which, in addition to the usual menu of health data, offers a function allowing parents to receive alerts when their children wander outside a pre-determined zone.
The water-resistant wearable, called Sync, also offers a function that locates loved ones without zoning restrictions. The corresponding app, available in iOS and Android versions, stores family health information such as allergies and emergency contacts. The information is easily shareable with caregivers to access on their smartphones in the event of an emergency. Sync is available in green, blue, white, pink and orange, and a glow-in-the-dark version is ironically available for this wearable that boasts of REM sleep tracking capabilities.
It comes in two sizes, one for adults and another for children between the ages of 2 and 10, and boasts an impressive three-month battery life. Founders raised over $14,000 in just one day of crowdfunding on their Indiegogo campaign page and are well on the way to their $50,000 goal. Sync can be pre-ordered for $69 and is expected to ship in February 2015. An extra $15 is required for Canadian orders and $25 for shipping to Europe, Australia or Asia. After crowdfunding ends, the product will retail for $129.
