How is training with chains different? Also Read - Should you strength train or do cardio first while working out? (Query)

Chains can make the strength training workout more effective by making the moves even more difficult. The secret to both chains and bands is that they provide what s known as linear variable resistance. Linear variable resistance training (LVRT) refers to progressively increasing the resistance with the range of motion. For example, while you are performing the bench press, the chains can add some extra weight. The resistance gets progressively heavier the farther you press the bar toward full arm extension. The increased resistance necessitates the application of more force toward the top of the lift. As you lower the bar to your chest, the chains pile on the ground, instantly making the bar much lighter. So whether you are performing squats or deadlifts, the weight should feel lighter as you get closer. Sometimes the chains sway as you lift, so you have to use your stabilizing muscles to control the weight. Here are 10 tips to get better hydration during exercise.

The benefit of training with chains

So how does the chain benefit you? It involves more muscles in your body. As the range of motion lengthens and the resistance increases, the number of muscle fibres being used in the exercising muscle increases as well. The more muscle fibres being used, the greater will be the muscle strength. Training with chains can also help build your core and stability. These 6 gym workouts will also give you perfect abs.
