Simha asana -- a yoga asana to relieve throat problems

Suffering from tonsillitis or hoarse voice? Try this yoga asana.

Simha asanaSimha asana or the Lion's pose can be performed by people who want to relieve their throat problems or problems with voice disruption and tonsillitis. This asana improves the respiratory process by activating different parts of the respiratory system like the larynx, trachea and the lungs. It also causes activation of the thyroid gland, releasing thyroid hormones and making your entire body healthy.

Steps to do this asana:

  • Start this asana by sitting in vajrasana or the kneeling pose.
  • Now relax your entire body. Breath normally while sitting in this pose.
  • Now slowly bend forward and extend your back so that it is almost parallel to the floor. Maintain a flat back
  • Exhale through both your nostrils and partially through your mouth while extending your tongue outwards.
  • Make sure you exhale completely, once your tongue is completely extended.
  • Straightening your hands in the front, spread your finger tips and open your mouth wide. Make sure your tongue is extended and your eyes wide open.
  • Hold this asana for a few seconds. Relax and inhale.
  • Rest for a while and then practice the asana again.
