Tamil star R Madhavan, who is known for his powerful performance onscreen, is making his fans go gaga for his outstanding looks and fitness.
The actor who has recently turned 55 seems to have cracked the code of ageing gracefully.
In a recent interview with GQ, the Kesari Chapter 2 actor opens up about how he swears by soaking up the sun in the world of cosmetic surgery and luxury creams for his youthful looks.
He said, "I play golf in the early morning sun. I get tanned, yes, but it helps with skin tightening, and keeping a wrinkle-free; the sun suits me."
"And I haven't gotten any fillers or enhancement done; maybe the occasional facial for a role. It's just coconut oil, coconut water, sunshine, and vegetarian food doing the heavy lifts."
Talking about how the film and fashion world hides behind a filter, he added, "Cosmetic do-overs have created yet another facade in our industry. Even on social media, everyone's putting photos with a filter. It is your prerogative, but then they are not being honest about who they are. Among all the other things that are ambiguous about my public persona, I don't want my physical appearance to be one of them."
During an interview with the magazine, Madhavan also emphasises the importance of what you put inside your body rather than fixing your outside appearance.
He tells GQ, "Even when I am on set, I take my chef along with me to cook, simple meals like dal, sabzi, chawal- the kind my mum made. I also don't get all the fuss around rice. My grandparents lived till the ripe old age of 92 and 93, and they ate rice three times a day."
Madhavan, who believes in being authentic and embraces ageing, also walks us through how Ayurveda added meaning to his life.
"When I started in Tamil cinema [with Alaipayuthey in 2000], everyone pointed out that I was the first Tamil actor without a moustache. Now, I've got a face full of hair," he told GQ.
"My routine's simple: since childhood, I've taken an oil bath every Sunday with nalla ennai [sesame oil]; you apply it all over your body, especially your head. On other days, it's coconut oil, applied in a specific manner. This ayurvedic practice has served me well for over 20 years."
