Now I may not be a tea aficionado, but I surely love to experiment with different flavours in tea. I was not a fan of green teas until I tasted Twinings, which is currently my favourite brand. Recently, some relatives bought some special jasmine and green tea from Munnar for me. Since, Munnar is famous for its tree plantations, I was excited to try it. This particular one is from a brand named Ripples and here s my take on it.

The brewing

The jasmine tea came in a bottle and not tea bags which meant it required brewing in a pot. I brewed one leveled teaspoon of the leaves in 150ml or a small cup of boiling water and allowed it to steep for two minutes. I don t like honey in my tea and hence tasted it without adding anything. I might try adding some lemon juice to it. Read more about how many cups of green tea should you drink per day here.

The taste

There is smoothness in the taste, which was not followed by a bitter after taste thankfully. It is more of an evening tea because of its mild and floral taste. Fortunately, it is not extremely floral or sweet and the taste of jasmine does not overpower the overall flavour and you don t feel that you are drinking scented floral water. It is like a light hit of jasmine fragrance and taste that differentiates it from the plain green tea. Towards the end it does lead to slight dryness and I feel like sipping some water after 10-15 minutes of drinking the tea. Jasmine tea offers great relief from menstrual pain.

Jasmine tea is said to help with easing menstrual cramps. It was a coincidence that I tried my first cup during my period, and surprisingly did not experience any cramps or discomfort this time. I shall try it a few more times to confer that the jasmine tea really works for menstrual pain.

Will I order another pack? Now that I found jasmine tea interesting, I might try different brands to figure out the difference between each.
