Know your exercise: Triceps cable extensions

Try this exercise for ripped triceps.

triceps cable extensionsTriceps are the muscles on the back of your upper limb behind your biceps. They contract every time you bring your hands down. The following exercise is a great way to strengthen and bulk up your triceps.

  • You can do this exercise by attaching a bar to a high pulley, and then grabbing the bar with an overhand grip keeping your hands shoulder width apart.
  • Stand with a slight lean, and using your triceps bring the bar down until your arms are fully extended. Make sure you are using only your forearms to push the bar down.
  • After this, maintain your hold on the bar for a brief moment.
  • Inhale as you bring the bar up again.

Tip: Make sure you're only using your arms and not your entire upper body. You need to isolate the triceps and make sure you're using your triceps and not your wrists to push down.

This exercise will specifically target your triceps. If you do not have the necessary equipment, you can try doing push ups instead which too targets your triceps along with other muscles of your body. (Exercises for your arms)
