The squat is the mother of all exercises whether they're done with barbells, the Smith machine, kettlebell or without any weight whatsoever. If you're into kettlebells, here's a variation of the squat you can do called the Goblet Squat to work your quadriceps.
Step 1: Hold a kettlebell by its horns and keep it close to your chest. Your palms will be facing each other.
Step 2: Squat down until your thighs touch your calves while keeping your chest, back and head straight. Hold this position for a while.
