I know that one should not workout on an empty stomach. But how much food should be put in exactly? Is it okay if I just drink a glass of milk with some Bournvita/Protinex before weight training in the morning?
You are right. One should not workout on an empty stomach in the morning, as that will lead to fatigue and exhaustion. You need energy for optimal performance during your workout. But is drinking just a glass of milk enough?
According to celebrity fitness trainer Vinod Channa, who has trained stars like John Abraham and Shilpa Shetty, Other than milk, you should also eat something that is a rich source of carbohydrates for energy. No need to have a heavy breakfast. Just eating an apple or a banana would do.
An apple has 14 g of carbohydrates per every 100 g serving, while a banana has 23 g of carbohydrates. Compare that to milk which has just 5 g of carbohydrates per 100 g serving.
Also, some people have this myth that skipping breakfast will make them lose weight. This is wrong. Several studies have shown that skipping breakfast will only make you crave sugary foods and overeat during the rest of the day, leading to weight gain. It is the most important meal of the day, and you must not compromise on it.
