Gautam Gulati, the current heartthrob of Indian television stole the show with his ripped body that he flaunted during his stint on Bigg Boss 8 . Even now the much-loved actor maintains a lean frame. We caught up with him to know the secret to his ripped body.

We loved your shirtless act in Bigg Boss 8. How difficult was it to stay fit in the house?

It was quite difficult because in real life we have a fixed schedule and get the right kind of food to support the workout, such as protein shakes, but in the house we would not get all of these things. But I think all the stress and mental torture in the house helped me lose weight without even trying.

How did you maintain your abs in the house?

Every morning I would run and then do ab exercises to maintain my physique. We barely had a gym there with only 1-2 machines. So I would do squats. Usually I would work out for 45-60 minutes in the Bigg Boss house, and I think it was enough.

Do you follow the same routine now as well?

To an extent, yes. Earlier I thought I need to gulp down protein shakes to build muscles but after staying in the house, I learnt that that s not true. So now I only stick to natural protein sources such as chicken. I don t have protein shakes.

I still go running every day even if it is for 30 minutes. I don t do much of weight training as I prefer having a lean body.

Do you have any cheat days?

I usually eat healthy but I can t go without eating nutella. That s a habit I picked up in the house. Even now I eat at least a spoonful of it almost every day.

What s your diet plan?

I believe in eating clean, healthy food. My meals usually have brown rice, dal, chicken, lots of green veggies, and two rotis with ghee. For breakfast it is mostly oats or omelette with two slices of bread. But I make it a point to not eat junk food or too much outside food. Even if I eat out, it is usually roasted or baked food. There was a time when I ate eight small meals in a day but now I stick to three big meals and have a fruit or juice in-between.

What do you do when you are stressed out?

I am normally don t get too stressed, I am a happy person. But occasionally when I do, I work out to beat it or take a dip in the pool to calm myself down.
