For years, my staple weekend breakfast was french toast and chicken sausages. Add a dollop of Nutella and I was a happy camper! It was much later that I realised that processed food is extremely unhealthy and it took me a lot of willpower to give up chicken sausages, but could not give up bread. Thankfully, I learnt that there are many food products I can stop buying and start making. I also found a couple of healthy recipes I am very happy with. Since now that I am into (somewhat) clean eating, a friend shared this amazing healthy recipe of french toast, that I make with home-baked wholegrain bread.

  • 2 slices of wholegrain bread
  • 2 egg whites
  • 1 cup strawberries or fruits of your choice
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • A pinch of cinnamon
  • Cooking oil spray
  • Honey

Steps

  • Lightly whisk the egg whites with a pinch of salt and cinnamon.
  • Heat a pan and lightly grease it with cooking oil spray.
  • Dip the bread in the egg mix and cook in the pan.
  • Flip it over once it browns.
  • When done, serve with drizzled honey and fruits.
