For years, my staple weekend breakfast was french toast and chicken sausages. Add a dollop of Nutella and I was a happy camper! It was much later that I realised that processed food is extremely unhealthy and it took me a lot of willpower to give up chicken sausages, but could not give up bread. Thankfully, I learnt that there are many food products I can stop buying and start making. I also found a couple of healthy recipes I am very happy with. Since now that I am into (somewhat) clean eating, a friend shared this amazing healthy recipe of french toast, that I make with home-baked wholegrain bread.
I totally love this recipe, and you would too. Here's how to make french toast, the healthy way -
Lightly whisk the egg whites with a pinch of salt and cinnamon.
Heat a pan and lightly grease it with cooking oil spray.
Dip the bread in the egg mix and cook in the pan.
Flip it over once it browns.
When done, serve with drizzled honey and fruits.
That's it! The pinch of cinnamon really takes this recipe to a whole new level of amazing! Your house will smell great and your body will thank you for a delicious and nutritious treat. If you need more healthy breakfast recipes, you should try healthy pizza, cutlets and more. Having a hearty breakfast is very important before you start your day. If you feel lethargic all day, it could because of breakfast mistakes we all tend to make.
