How to do side lying leg shifts

Tone your abdomen, butt and things with side lying leg shifts.

For most women, and a lot of men, lower abdomen, hips and thighs is the problem area that needs to toned, and is usually the most difficult one. What you need are exercises that strengthen core, work on glutes and strengthen ythigh muscle. While a lot of exercises do that, like planking or squats, if you need something suitable for beginners, which will help you build the stamina for much more intense exercises, side lying leg shifts, or side lying leg lifts is the perfect exercise that you can do without exerting yourself. Follow the steps to do this exercise to tone abdomen and hips.

Note: Remember to do adequate warm-up exercises before performing this exercise.

Steps for Side lying leg shifts

  • On an exercise mat, lie down flat with your hands on the side. Breathe.
  • Turn to your left, with your right leg on top of the left. Keep your right hand straight aligned to your body.
  • Fold your left arm and place your wrist under your head, supporting it.
  • Now place your right arm near your chest for additional support.
  • Now gently, lift your right leg up so that it is straight.
  • Hold it for five breaths and bring your leg down.
  • Repeat for 10 more rounds.
  • Now. turn to come on your back again. Breathe.
  • Now turn to your right and repeat the process.
  • You can do as many rounds of Side lying leg shifts as you are comfortable with. Start with 20 rounds, gradually increasing as you go about.
  • Pair Side lying leg shifts with other exercises for a sexy butt to tone your lower abdomen and hips.
  • Finish it off with a round of cool down exercises.
