How to choose the right workout clothes

Clothes play an important role in making sure you are comfortable doing your exercises. Here are some points you need to keep in mind.

In fact, it is essential to be dressed in the right attire when you hit the gym to let you workout properly. Many people think wearing just about anything will do as in the end, you are left all sweaty. But they need to understand that clothes play an important role in making sure you are comfortable doing your exercises. Here are five points to remember when you shop for workout wear. Should be the right fit Workout clothes that either are too loose or too tight are not right for you. They need to fit your body snugly which allows proper form without interfering in the exercise. Many people confuse fit with tight clothes which is a faux pas. A fitted top means it sits well on your body but does not cause discomfort. You should feel at ease while working out and clothes which are ill-fitted will not help in any way. On the contrary, they may cause injury if they get stuck somewhere. Material matters You know you are going to sweat profusely and therefore choosing clothes with sweat absorbing material is a good idea. Synthetic materials like lycra, polyester, spandex, etc will absorb the sweat and allow your body to breathe. This will make working out easier. (Read: How to lose weight easily)

Wear supporting undergarments What you wear under your clothes also plays an important role especially for women. They need to find a fitting sports bra to not cause any injury to the breast tissue while working out. A good sports bra comes with a band at the bottom which sits right below the breasts and provides ample support. It should fit well but not be too tight. Alternately, it shouldn’t be a size bigger as it won’t be able to provide good support. Men can wear a protective cup if needed.

Vary your clothes according to the physical activity Once you decide which activity you are engaging in, you can choose your clothes accordingly. Since brisk walking won’t be as sweaty as aerobics, you can opt for cotton attire. If you are going cycling or running, avoid wearing long bottoms as they may make the task uncomfortable.

Choose the right shoes Wearing the right shoes will enhance your performance during your exercise regimen. Depending on the kind of physical activity you are doing, you can pick your shoes. You will find shoes catering to different sports like running, walking, playing a sport, etc. Make sure the size is right and they aren’t too heavy.

Just like you won’t turn up in your pyjamas to a corporate meeting, similarly, your workout clothes should also be customised according to your needs. These days, popular sports brands offer various trendy styles and colours. Choose a style you like but remember comfort exceeds fashion when it comes to workout clothes.
