I have been training for the last six months and focused on my upper body. Due to this, while I have a much bigger upper body than earlier, the size of my lower body has remained the same. How do I correct this? Should I train my legs twice a week?

You have made a common error that a lot of beginners make. It is important for you to realize that fitness isn t just about looking good and ripped, but also about feeling strong from within. Can you build a 100-storey building with the first 20 floors made of dubious concrete? I don t think so! For you to have a healthy body, you need to train your legs!

Unfortunately, scientists haven t been able to find a way to turn back the clock. So we asked strength coach and fitness trainer Arnav Sarkar for advice.

Yes, you can train your legs two days a week to bring up your lagging lower body. On day one, keep heavy squats the main exercise and follow that up with some other exercises like leg extensions, good mornings, etc. On day two, make deadlift the main exercise and follow up with some single leg work like lunges or Bulgarian split squats, etc. And yes, be sure to also train your lower leg muscles, with calf raises on both the days, said Sarkar.
