Luxury home gyms have been around as long as the stars in Hollywood, although a new line of equipment is promising to shake things up by departing from the cumbersome, industrial look of even the most sophisticated gym equipment traditionally sought after in the niche market.
The Personal Collection by Italian gym equipment maker Technogym includes a kinesis trainer for improving balance, endurance strength and flexibility as well as a treadmill, a recumbent stationary bicycle, an elliptical and a strength trainer. Italian furniture and industrial designer Antonio Citterio has given the machines a unified look that upholds sleek lines and superior ergonomics.
Prices range from 7,264 (around $9,715) for the Recline Personal stationary bicyle to 10,585 (close to $14,160) for the Run Personal VISOWEB treadmill, which is the first treadmill to offer internet surfing. In partnership with Technogym, US home gym designer TechnoHome is employing the cutting-edge machines to suit the demands of clientele wishing to maximize space and avoid simply duplicating a health club in the home.
Customized 'Dream Gym' packages from TechnoHome include Wellness Balls, Racks and Tool Kits from Technogym and work in spaces ranging from 150 to 500 square feet. Customers will also have the option of a package that includes sessions with Technogym certified personal trainers. TechnoHome is launching at Technogym's New York flagship in SoHo. If the 2014 IDEA World Fitness Conference line-up of new products is any indication, fitness enthusiasts want their equipment at their fingertips and the luxury market is no exception.
