You may love the taste of cheesecake with a blueberry topping, but it is one food combination that can lead to bloating, gas, fatigue and heaviness, and sometimes also lead to stomach ache and nausea. So the idea is to ensure that you don t mix dairy with sour fruits. Well-known dietician Neha Chandna tells you why.

  • The combo of dairy and sour fruits can diminish the digestive fibre, change the intestinal flora leading to digestive disorders. Ayurveda also suggests restricting to foods that dampen the digestive fibre like cheesecake with fruits.
  • According to Ayurveda, when you combine dairy with sour fruits you may also experience heaviness in your body along with a slow mind.
  • The acid in fruits also destroys the enzyme responsible for digesting the protein in dairy and thus leads to digestive disorders and discomfort in the stomach.
  • Acidic fruits like lemon and grapes can also curdle the milk and convert them into mucous forming substances leading to a cough, cold, allergies and even sinus congestion.

Tips

However, if you cannot resist the temptation of a cheesecake, you can go for honey, cinnamon and raisins instead of the berries. Apple crumble with cinnamon and cardamom is a better option. When that sweet tooth calls for a decadent treat, you can also reach for these healthy desserts that offer both taste and nutrition and we bet you won t be disappointed.
