Losing weight is not just about looking good; it also increases flexibility and mobility. Staying fit is especially important in older age, as simple exercises such as taking yourself on a walk or performing your favourite workout can strengthen your hip and knee joints and muscles while reducing the risk of injury.

For Bollywood's beloved 'Dancing Queen', Helen, who is known for her exceptional dance skills, mobility became a challenge as a weight issue began to impact her ability to move freely.

Helen's Transformation At 86

In a recent podcast interview, Helen's fitness trainer, Yasmin Karachiwala, reveals how the veteran actress, despite being 86, took on the challenge to stay fit.

Talking about Helen's transformation at 86, the coach recalls, "If you had asked me this question four years back, I would have told you about one of my Katrina (Kaif), Alia (Bhatt), Deepika (Padukone) transformations, but my most recent transformation I don't know if I will call it challenging as much as satisfying is of Helen's.

"She is 86 now. I am very close to the Khan family, and every time I used to meet Helen aunty, I would be like when are you coming to Pilates because before lockdown, she used to come and do a little bit of Pilates, and after lockdown, she never got the energy to come back.

I Saw Helen's Movement Deteriorating, Says Yasmin Karachiwala

"Every time, there was a birthday or Diwali, Eid or one of the functions, I would meet her and I would be like when are you coming back because I was seeing her movement deteriorating she was using a stick to walk it became so embarrassing for her such that she would see me at parties and cover her face...'I don't want to even see you, darling!' and I was like I am not going to ask you this question you come when you are ready "

However, Helen eventually came around to restarting Pilates with Karachiwala. Yasmin Karachiwala shared that Helen later began to truly enjoy the workouts. " She enjoyed what she did and kept coming every single day unless she was unwell," Yasmin Karachiwala said. "She kept coming, Pilates is a beautiful form of exercise, that you can make it so gentle for someone who needs it and super challenging for an athlete. That has been my success story."
