Healthy winter recipe for kids -- Green peas waffles

Waffles are loved by kids but did you know you can make its healthier version too by using ingredients such as green peas, sooji, lentils and spices? Try this recipe and let your child reap in both taste and nutrition.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup boiled green peas
  • 1/2 cup sooji
  • 1/3 cup urad dal flour
  • 1 tbsp low-fat curd
  • 3 tsp finely chopped green chillies
  • 1 tsp jeera powder
  • 1 tbsp finely chopper coriander leaves
  • 1/4 tsp hing
  • 1/2 tsp fruit salt
  • 1 tsp oil
  • Salt to taste

  • Grind green peas in a blender to a coarse paste.
  • Add the semolina, urad dal flour, curd, green chillies, cumin seeds, coriander, asafoetida, salt, oil and cup of water and mix well to make a smooth batter.
  • Add the fruit salt and mix gently.
  • Pre-heat a waffle iron.
  • Grease it lightly with teaspoon of oil. Pour half the green pea batter and spread evenly. Cook for 2 minutes, until the waffle is golden brown.
  • Repeat with the remaining batter. Serve hot.
