Organising a dinner party at home for health conscious friends? Quite a challenge, especially when you have to look for healthy recipes for starters. If you didn t know, here s the calorie count of some of the common Indian starters and Chinese starters. I love cooking party snacks that require very little time and ingredients and make my task of cooking the main course and desserts easy. Pate is ideally made from chicken liver and I completely dislike the taste. I had tasted this peanut and paneer pate at friend s place. She did not call it a pate but was kind enough to share the recipe.

I tried it at home and it was an instant hit every time I made it. So now if you ever are my guest and a vegetarian, this is one recipe that s always going to be served. The best part is that you can prepare it a day before or in the morning. Serve it with crackers and they will compliment any kind of drink perfectly. This recipe is sufficient for around 30-35 crackers.

Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 100 gms paneer
  • 4 tbsp roasted peanut powder
  • 2 tbsp lime juice
  • 1 small onion diced
  • 1 small green chilli
  • Salt to taste

Method:

  1. For the peanut powder, I roasted the peanuts first and removed the skin.
  2. Grind it to a fine paste. You can also use regular peanuts without roasting. I prefer the former.
  3. Now all you need to do is blend all the ingredients in a mixer grinder to form a smooth paste.

Voila! Your peanut and paneer pate is ready!

If you follow the recipe even by altering the proportions a bit, the end product is still going to be delicious.
