Walnut Fish Biryani

Walnut Fish Biryani is made by layering fish steaks, walnut powder, and cooked rice, resulting in a flavorful and wholesome dish. The biryani is garnished with fresh pomegranate seeds and coriander leaves, adding a delightful touch to this mouthwatering dish.

Ingredients

  • 4 slices of fish steak on the bone.
  • 1/3 cup walnut powder
  • 1 tablespoon garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon red chilli powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 3 teaspoons ghee
  • 3 cups rice, cooked till 3/4 done
  • 1/4 cup brown onion paste
  • 1/4 cup fresh tomato pur e
  • 1 teaspoon garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon red chilli paste
  • 1 tablespoon saffron water
  • Salt as required

Garnish

  • Handful of fresh pomegranate seeds
  • Handful coriander leaves

Preparation

1. Take a deep-bottomed pan and ghee in it.

2. Once heated, add garlic and red chilli, and saut on high flame.

3. Stir in brown onion paste, walnut powder and tomato paste. Cook till oil releases the sides of the pan.

4. Add powdered spices and cook till the raw smell disappears.

5. Place the fish steaks carefully along with the walnuts and layer with rice.

6. Cook on medium flame for 15 minutes.

7. Just before serving, add the pomegranate and coriander leaves. Serve hot.

  • 1 teaspoon red chilli paste
  • 1 tablespoon saffron water
  • Salt as required

Garnish

  • Handful of fresh pomegranate seeds
  • Handful of coriander leaves

Preparation

1. Heat ghee in a deep-bottomed pan.

2. Saut garlic and red chilli on high flame.

3. Add brown onion paste, walnut halves, and tomato paste. Cook until oil releases from the sides of the pan.

4. Sprinkle saffron water over the rice and wrap with a top.

5. Boil on a medium flame for 15-20 minutes.

6. Just before serving, garnish with pomegranate seeds and coriander leaves. Serve hot.
