Healthy Holi Recipe: Thandai

Holi is definitely incomplete without thandai! Here's a healthy twist to this Holi delicacy, which you'll surely love.

This thandai is healthy and very refreshing. Skimmed milk is rich in calcium, vitamin A, vitamin D, niacin, thaimin, riboflavin, which help improve your bone health. Almonds are rich in vitamin E, magnesium and protein. Dates are good source of iron, manganese and potassium which provides instant energy .

Recipe Serving: 1 Glass

Ingredients

  • 100 ml Skimmed milk
  • 2 dates-Grated
  • 1 tsp fennel seeds
  • 2 skinned almonds
  • 1 Tsp sunflower/pumpkin seeds crushed
  • 1 tsp poppy seeds
  • Pinch of green cardamom powder
  • Saffron strands few(optional)
  • Rose petals,For garnish
  • Pinch of black pepper powder
  • 30ml water

Method

Roast fennel seeds,melon/sunflower seeds, almonds,poppy seeds on a tawa.Let it cool.Now add pinch of black pepper powder, green cardamom powder and saffron strands(optional) in a bowl,Soak all the ingredients in 30ml water except milk and rose petals.Set aside for 2 hours.Grind it in fine paste along with grated dates and mix with milk. Decorate with rose petals and serve chilled. Nutritive value:per serving:
