Healthy Holi Recipe: Oats Chaat

Oats Chaat is a very healthy alternative as compared to other chaat recipes. It is nutritionally dense and also low in calories,It is not only best for weight loss but very easy to cook. Oats are high in fiber and hence, it stabilises blood sugar and helps to remove bad cholesterol from your body. You should also try Chef Sanjeev Kapoor's sugar-free kesar malai peda.

For The Meetha Chutney

  • 2 deseeded dates (khajur)
  • 1 deseeded tamarind (imli)
  • 1/2 tspchilli powder
  • 1 tspjeerapowder
  • 15 ml water
  • Black salt (sanchal),to taste

Other Ingredients

  • Oats-30gms
  • 1 Tbsp finely chopped tomatoes
  • 1 Tbsp finely chopped onion
  • 2tbsp beaten low-fat curds (dahi)
  • meetha chutney as per taste, Recipe above
  • 15 gmsboiled kalachana (brown chick peas)
  • 1/ 2 Tsp cumin powder
  • Black salt (sanchal),to taste
  • 2 tsp mint coriander chutne

For The Garnish

finely chopped coriander(dhania)

1 tsp fresh pomegranate(anar)(optional)

Method

For the meetha chutney

Wash the dates and tamarind and put them in a vessel with 1/4 cup water and boil for 5 minutes on high flame. Keep aside to cool. Blend in a mixer to a smooth paste using 2 tbsp. water. Strain the mixture through a sieve. Add chilli powder, cumin seed powder, black salt and mix well. Keep aside.

How to proceed

Dry roast the oats in a non-stick pan on a medium flame for 3 to 4 minutes. Keep aside to cool. Combine all the other ingredients, including the oats, in a large bowl and mix well. Serve immediately garnished with coriander and pomegranate.
