Healthy recipe: Oats and Moong dal tikki frankie

Eating plain oats once a week may seem good for a foodie, but after a while you start craving for the junk or outside food you ve lived on for so many years. What if all the healthy ingredients could become a part of the tasty recipes and you could enjoy them guilt free. Here s one such recipe by celebrity chef and culinary expert, Rakhee Vaswani in her latest book Picky Eaters that ll make you forget the greasy oily wraps, because not only is it healthy but delectable too.

Ingredients:

  • cup yellow moong dal
  • cup quick cooking rolled oats
  • 2 tbsp fresh curd
  • 1 tbsp roasted besan
  • tsp green chillies, finely chopped
  • 2 tsp chaat masala
  • 2 tsp chilli powder
  • tsp garam masala
  • tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
  • 1 tbsp coriander, finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp onion, minced
  • 1 tbsp chilli garlic sauce
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tsp oil, for greasing and cooking
  • Roti or tortilla wraps for Frankie
  • Frankie masala:
  • 1 tsp amchur powder
  • tsp chilli powder
  • 1 tsp white pepper powder
  • 1 tsp salt

Method:

  1. Clean, wash and boil the moong dal in 1 cup water till it is soft and cooked and all the water evaporates.
  2. Drain and blend the dal in a mixer to a coarse paste
  3. Transfer the paste to a bowl, add all the remaining ingredients (except chilli garlic sauce) and mix well; reserve some oats for coating.
  4. Divide the mixture into 12 equal portions. Shape each into a long sausage roll and coat it with oats.
  5. Lightly grease a non-stick pan with tsp oil.
  6. Cook each roll in the pan with minimum oil.
  7. For the frankie masala, mix the ingredients in a bowl and sprinkle on the rolls.
  8. Roll the roti or wrap over each cutlet after adding some minced coriander and onion. Serve with chilli garlic sauce.
