Healthy recipe for diabetics: Oats uttapa

Oats uttapa is nutritious and healthy dosa-like dish which is made by cooking ingredients in a batter.

If you are worried about cholesterol, diabetes, heart disease or any other chronic disease then including oats in your diet can be the best bet. The otas uttapa is nutritious and healthy dosa-like dish which is made by cooking ingredients in a batter. Oats are a good source of soluble dietary fibre, iron, magnesium and vitamin.

Ingredients

  • 100g oats, uncooked
  • 100g rava (semolina)
  • 150g low fat dahi (curd), pre heated(See Basic Recipes)
  • 100g capsicum, finely chopped
  • 100g tomato, finely chopped
  • 2 tsp green chilli paste
  • 8 tsp extra virgin olive oil
  • Salt to taste

Method

  • Mix the oats, rava, capsicum, tomato, chilli paste and salt into the dahi
  • The batter should be of a semi-liquid consistency
  • Put tsp of oil on the semi hot tava (pan).
  • Pour enough batter on the oil and spread it round to make a saucer sized uttappa
  • Once one side is adequately browned, flip the uttappa and roast it till it is golden-brown.
  • Serve hot
