Suhoor refers to the pre-dawn meal before fasting begins. Here's a great dish to start you day with -- oatmeal waffles.
Oatmeal wins out over sugary corn flakes by helping people feel more satisfied and full at their dining table for Suhoor. Try this recipe to keep your hunger at bay for most part of the day.
Makes 6 waffles
These easily prepared waffles are a delicious way to add healthful oats to your diet.
2 cups rolled oats
2 cups water
1 banana
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon jaggery
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
vegetable oil spray
1 fresh fruit or spreadable fruit like banana
Preheat waffle iron to medium-high.
Combine oats, water, banana, salt, jaggery, and vanilla in a blender. Blend on high speed until completely smooth. The batter should be pourable. If it becomes too thick as it stands, add a bit more water to achieve desired consistency.
Lightly spray waffle iron with vegetable oil. Pour in enough batter to reach edges and cook until golden brown, 5 to 10 minutes without lifting lid.
Serve with fresh fruit or spreadable fruit.
Note: If you don't have a waffle iron, you can bake pancakes.
